After you submit your application, try to be online, findable and available for RP whenever possible. This will increase your chances of
being Searched. Individuals who fail to maintain at least two hours of activity per week are unlikely to be considered, unless they have
warned us in advance of a planned absence. Previous Candidates will receive an @mail shortly after submitting their application with
their options for how to transfer their Candidacy to High Reaches.
IC Search will start after Rhadamanth has clutched. We prefer to Search everyone within the first seven days, so if you're going to be away during that timeframe, please let us know! Those who are not being Searched will be notified after we have completed IC Search.
Before applying, you must register your character as a Candidate. You may do this before the beginning of Search. Type 'register for HRW' and then
'colors (list) for HRW'. The list of colors is space-separated and need not be in any particular order. You may also use 'StandOnly'
if you wish to be a Stand Only Candidate.
After applications open, you must type 'search me' and then follow the instructions in the Search Room to fill out the
on-game application. The questions are given below for you to review. Please note that we have had problems in the past with
incomplete display of questions. Your best bet is to copy the questions from here, answer them in a text file and save them, and then
paste your answers into the on-game application. We apologize for the inconvenience!
Application Instructions
Read all questions carefully and think about your answers, and proofread before you submit!
The questions are not designed to trip you up, but if you need clarification, page a SC member. We can't tell you how to answer, but we can give
more explanation of what we're asking. Most of the questions don't have wrong answers, they're there to help us get to know you and your character and
to see what help you might need and where you might fit into the Weyr.
Submit the application promptly. Applications close at midnight game time on the date specified, and we cannot guarantee that the game clock will
be accurate at the time. You can type 'think time()' to see the current game time. The earlier you can submit, the better, but try not to rush
through the application itself.
The Application
1. What is your current email address?
2. Please list the three letter knot alias of all areas to which your character belongs. For instance, a minecrafter posted to Telgar Hold should enter 'MIC TEH' and a resident of Fort Weyr would put 'FOW'. If you do not belong to an area, please put 'NONE'.
3. What colors do you wish to Impress? Please rank the colors and be as detailed as possible about your preferences.
4. What is your character's sexual preference? Valid answers are Heterosexual, Homosexual and Bisexual. This is only relevant if you are applying for a metallic dragon -- metallic dragons will not Impress to homosexual characters.
5. Before applying, you must read all of the Search information from the HRW website (http://www.highreaches.net). Can you confirm that you have and that you understand the rules and procedures as explained there?
6. After reviewing the schedule as posted, do you believe you can actively play this character during the entirety of Candidacy and Weyrlinghood? If your access is unstable or you have an upcoming vacation planned, please explain.
7. How much experience do you have playing dragonriders and other types of characters on Pern-themed games?
8. What are your usual online times, and how much time do you believe you have available for RP at High Reaches?
9. OOCly, what do you plan on doing if you don't Impress, and what would you like to do after Weyrlinghood if you do?
10. Please tell us about your character's personality and background.
11. Why do you want this character to be a dragonrider instead of something else, and why at High Reaches specifically?
12. Finally, please make note of the fact that we will most likely /not/ be Impressing a gold this cycle. If you are gold only and still wish to be Searched as a stand-only candidate OR to be considered for a chromatic (brown, blue or green), please indicate so here.
